Calendar Cat - Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how BTP Software LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information through the Calendar Cat application (“Calendar Cat” or the “Service”). Calendar Cat is a macOS desktop application that connects to your Google Calendar and/or Apple Calendar and displays cat-themed reminders before your meetings.
By using Calendar Cat, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Google Account Information: If you connect Google Calendar, we receive an OAuth 2.0 access token and refresh token to access your Google Calendar, and your Google account email address (used solely for authentication). We do not have access to your Google password.
Apple Calendar Data: If you connect Apple Calendar, Calendar Cat accesses your calendar events through macOS EventKit, the operating system’s built-in calendar framework. This access requires your explicit permission via the macOS privacy prompt (System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars). Apple Calendar data is read directly from the local system and no data is sent over the network.
Calendar Data: Calendar Cat reads your calendar events from your connected sources (Google Calendar and/or Apple Calendar) to provide meeting reminders. This data may include event titles, start and end times, video conference links (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom URLs), and event location and notes (scanned locally for meeting links). This data is accessed in real time and is not stored on any server. Calendar data is processed entirely on your local device and is only held in memory while the application is running.
Application Settings: Calendar Cat stores your preferences locally on your device, including reminder lead time, polling interval, notification sound, cat style, and spray sound preference. These settings are stored locally and are never transmitted to any server.
Automatically Collected Information: Calendar Cat does not collect any analytics, usage data, crash reports, or telemetry. We do not track how you use the application.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we access to:
- Authenticate with Google Calendar via OAuth 2.0 (if connected)
- Read your local Apple Calendar events via macOS EventKit (if connected)
- Read your upcoming calendar events to display timely meeting reminders
- Provide meeting join links when available
We do not:
- Sell, rent, lease, or otherwise commercially transfer your personal information to any third party, ever
- Store your calendar data on any server or cloud service
- Use your data for advertising purposes
- Access any Google data beyond your calendar events
- Send Apple Calendar data over the network. It is read and processed entirely on your device
- Share your information with other users
- Collect analytics or usage tracking data
4. Data Storage and Security
All calendar data stays on your device. Calendar Cat does not operate any servers or cloud infrastructure. Your calendar data is processed locally and held only in memory.
Google OAuth tokens are stored securely on your local device using the operating system’s credential storage. Apple Calendar access is managed through macOS system permissions. Calendar Cat does not store any Apple Calendar credentials. Application settings are stored locally on your device. All communication with Google’s servers uses encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS). Apple Calendar data never leaves your device. It is read directly from the local system via macOS EventKit.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Third-Party Services
Calendar Cat connects to the following services:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Calendar API | Reading your Google Calendar events to provide meeting reminders (optional) |
| macOS EventKit | Reading your Apple Calendar events locally to provide meeting reminders (optional) |
Apple Calendar integration uses macOS EventKit, a system framework built into macOS. It reads calendar data directly from your device and does not involve any third-party network requests.
We do not share your data with any other third parties. Calendar Cat does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
6. Data Retention
- Calendar data is held in memory only while the application is running and is not persisted to disk
- Google OAuth tokens are stored locally until you disconnect Google Calendar
- When you disconnect Google Calendar, your OAuth tokens are deleted from local storage

- Uninstalling Calendar Cat removes all locally stored data
7. Your Rights
All users may:
- Request information about what data we access
